At the age of 10, Doug's life took a new turn with the introduction of a prosthetic limb, marking August 8th as a special day, now celebrated as "Leg Day." Each year, Doug and his close friends would play golf and embrace this challenge with a smile, viewing it as the day Doug was saved. During these outings, Doug spoke of his mission to help children in similar situations gain access to prosthetic limbs and inspire them to carry on.
Although Doug is no longer with us to fulfill this mission, we will continue his legacy. Starting 2022, August 8th will be recognized as "Doug’s Legacy" on the Lebanon Country Club Golf Calendar in Pennsylvania. We will host an annual golf tournament and dinner, with all proceeds benefiting a child in need of a prosthetic limb. With your support, we can carry on Doug’s mission and share his inspiring story.

Golf Tournament & Dinner to benefit children in need of a prosthetic.
Our mission is to promote the overall well-being of children and young adults who have suffered the traumatic loss of a limb. We understand the hardships, financial and emotional, that impact families and the many lifestyle changes that must occur. Our goal is to ease the burden by providing financial assistance to support this new way of day to day living.
If you would like to be considered for a grant, tell us your story! We are here to help.
“When my brother Doug was ten years old, he lost his left leg below the knee in a farming accident. Although the accident took his leg, it did not take his competitive spirit nor his love for playing sports. Doug played and excelled at many sports, but most of all, he loved golf. The Doug Meyer Legacy Foundation seeks to enable children with lost or missing limbs to find their true potential by helping them acquire prosthetics that will enable them to have an active and fulfilling lifestyle.”
“Doug will be greatly missed. He was such a lighthearted person and a joy to be around. His laugh was infectious. Some of my fondest memories of him are on the golf course listening to his patented one-liners. He always wore a smile and although he struggled with his disability, you would never know it from the outside. Godspeed my good friend.”
“Doug was a great friend and a great man. He never allowed his disability to limit him. He carried on and was an inspiration to all. This charity brings me some comfort as we carry on for him now”
